According to YOUR religion, what is the definition of a false religion?

I see this all the time here on Y!A. Things like,

';Beware of false religions';

';Leave that false religion';

Etc.

So what's the definition of the true religion? And what is your definition of a false religion?

Faith in the ';true religion'; sounds more like discrimination to me, if you know what I mean.According to YOUR religion, what is the definition of a false religion?
Any religion that isn't mine is false.

Ask any adherent to any religion, and that's what they'll tell you. they'll try not to say it like that, of course, but that's what they'll be telling you.According to YOUR religion, what is the definition of a false religion?
A religon or a political party becomes false, when they teach a false doctrine. Anything that causes harm to society is bad. If a religion teaches to fight for its rights or for its beliefs, it is wrong. Religions should be like rays of light, to lead people from darkness to light. When it is otherwise, it becomes a false religion.
By my religion and what I believe, the only false religion i one tht encourages you to hur yourself or others, one that breaks laws or encourages you to break laws, one that takes your money or house or stuff, or one that claims to be the one true and right way to god and all others are damned.

So basically any positive religoin that gets you in touch with the divinity and is non-dogmatic
ALL religions seem to think that all other religions are false and theirs is the ONLY true one.

I think if one proclaims to have the only TRUE religion they are being very presumptuous and ungodly. Especially if they are pointing the finger at everyone else being wrong but them.

To me, false religion can be religions that steer people away from God or uses BELIEF in God to cause it's members to become self-righteous, judgemental and fanatical. Religion requires balance on our parts in our lives. Also any religion that causes harm to it's members or distorts the bible...is a false way of worship.
People saying what the bible says in their opinion [ as all go to heaven or hell ], is false, what the bible really says is the truth, John 8:28-32; 17:3,17;

Christ Jesus is the SAVIOR of the world that goes back to Abel, John 3:16; The heavenly for the new heavens are with Jesus at his second coming to resurrect 1Cor.15:22-28,51-53; the earthly for the new earth, 2Pet.3:13; Rev.20:1-6,12,13;Rev.21:1-5;

The majority of the world believe the heaven and hell teaching as one repeats the other and none really innvestigate the 397 year old KJV Bible that is an excepted translation 97 years and now the world has many translations to examine, just because people say hell means more than the common grave, Acts 2:27-35; does not make it so, and just because the majority has certain days [ holidays ], or practices, does not make that right, Rom.14:5-9; the world is stuck in a rut they call religion. Bible is bible and religion is religion.
Most people are discriminating when it comes to religion, except the ones who make the claim of believing in all of them (and probably really adhere to none).

As a Christian, I believe that any group who rejects Christ as God or who rejects the Gospel of grace is a false religion.
All religion is false and believe you me none of the scripture books has the accurate knowledge of God. God did not inspire the writing of any spiritual book. The true religion is that of God-the religion of Peace and non violence. How on earth will God authorise people to kill in His name but we find this in almost all the religious books.
False religion is marked by its non-Biblical teachings and its actions (or lack thereof).

EXAMPLES:

A religion that teaches that Jesus is either (a) God or (b) part of a 'trinity' is a FALSE religion because the Bible does not teach either of those things. The same applies for religions that teach in a burning hellfire, an immortal soul, or that everyone ';good'; goes to heaven when they die.

A religion that uses idols and crosses in its worship (which is, in effect, committing idolatry) is a false religion as the Bible makes it very clear that no such devices are to be used in pure worship.

A religion that hides or covers up God's personal name (commonly rendered in many translations as ';Jehovah'; at Psalms 83:18) rather than using it freely in worship is a false religion.

A religion in which people are paid salaries to guide and teach the congregation is a false religion. In no way did Jesus or his apostles get paid for their teaching; nor did any in the first century Christian congregation get paid for their work either. Most had separate, secular jobs to care for their needs.

A religion that blatantly ignores or waters down the importance of preaching ';the good news of God's kingdom'; throughout the earth in full knowledge that we are living in the ';last days'; is a false religion. Jesus Christ himself, in Matthew 24:14 and Matthew 28:19, 20 gave the COMMAND (not option) to his true followers to actively and zealously engage in this work the world over. Yet how many religions are actually doing this? Having a car wash or bake sale here and there hardly qualifies.

A religion that gets involves in the affairs of the world around them, either in political or military arenas, is a false religion. Christ admonished his followers to be ';no part of the world';, and yet many in false religion actively vote in political elections, placing their trust in other imperfect humans, or they take up arms to possibly go off and kill members of the same religion on the other side.

A religion that tolerates its leaders and flock practicing ways of life that are grossly immoral and in complete contradiction to the moral standards laid out in the Bible. (i.e. religions that accept and/or ordain homosexual priests, or they simply cover over sexual scandals in their church by paying off victims or moving the offending priests simply to another parish)

- Those are but a few of the stains that mark a religion as being false.
simple enough

any ';religion'; which does not teach God's word chapter by chapter and verse by verse with nothing added and nothing taken away is a false religion if they teach something that is not in the bible and they say something like it is assumed or supposed that (for instance) cain married his sister and procreated all the races of the earth where does the bible say cain had a sister ad what about the fact the bible says cain went to nod and took a wife
I'm United Pentecostal %26amp; we teach that if don't live your life the way Jesus teaches you then you're living in the wrong.

A false religion to me is one that tells you that you don't have to live the way Jesus expects you to live %26amp; still be able to make it to heaven. It's one that tells you it's okay to do things that you know in your heart are sins. I don't believe that you can live your life any less than the way Jesus Christ has intended you to live it.
none.

All religions are equal. Yes, this is according to my religion, as it is covered by Life Light 2:

'Accept and embrace opposition as equal, and equally right'.

True religion? All have their own claim to truth, and all are equal, so none can be 100% spot on truth, can they?

((((hugs))))

well, according to Islam the only true religions are Islam, Christianity and Jeduism (spelling?).The rest are false.

a religion that believes there's no God, there is more than one God, idol worshipers, .......That's all I can think of.
According to my RELIGION? There isn't one.

According to my own academic, theological and historical research? One based on lies, mistranslations and pure imagination. There are only three off the top of my head that would fall into that category.
When one speaks of “false” religion, it means that there is also a “true” religion, a true form of worship of man’s Creator, the Archenemy of false religion .Jesus Christ indicated that false religion produces bad works, just as a “rotten tree produces worthless fruit.” (Matthew 7:15-17) What fruit does false religion yield?

False Religion . . .

▪ MEDDLES IN WAR AND POLITICS: “Across Asia and beyond,” says the journal Asiaweek, “power-hungry leaders are cynically manipulating people’s religious sentiments for their own needs.” As a result, the journal warns: “The world threatens to sink into madness.” A prominent religious leader in the United States declared: “You’ve got to kill the terrorists before the killing stops.” His solution? “Blow them all away in the name of the Lord.” By contrast, the Bible says: “If anyone makes the statement: ‘I love God,’ and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar.” (1 John 4:20) Jesus even said: “Continue to love your enemies.” (Matthew 5:44) How many religions can you think of whose members engage in war?

▪ SPREADS FALSE DOCTRINE: Most religions teach that the soul or spirit is some invisible part of a human that survives the death of the physical body. By means of this teaching, many of these religions exploit their members, charging money to pray for departed souls. However, the Bible teaches a different doctrine. “The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.” (Ezekiel 18:4) “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Jesus taught that the dead will be resurrected—an unnecessary action if humans had an immortal soul. (John 11:11-25) Does your religion teach that the soul does not die?

▪ TOLERATES IMMORAL SEX: In Western lands, church groups ordain gay and lesbian members of the clergy and urge governments to recognize same-sex marriages. Even churches that condemn immorality have tolerated religious leaders who have sexually abused children. What, though, does the Bible teach? It plainly states: “Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men . . . will inherit God’s kingdom.” (1 Corinthians 6:9, 10) Do you know of religions that condone immoral sex?

What does the future hold for religions that produce rotten fruit? Jesus warned: “Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire.” (Matthew 7:19) Yes, false religion will be chopped down and destroyed! But how and when will this happen? A prophetic vision recorded in the Bible book of Revelation, chapters 17 and 18, provides the answer.

How Will False Religion End?

Picture the scene. A harlot is sitting on the back of a fearsome beast. The beast has seven heads and ten horns. (Revelation 17:1-4) Whom does the harlot represent? She exerts influence “over the kings of the earth.” She dresses in purple, uses incense, and is exceedingly wealthy. In addition, by means of her spiritistic practice, ‘all the nations are misled.’ (Revelation 17:18; 18:12, 13, 23) The Bible helps us to see that this harlot is a worldwide religious entity. She depicts, not any one religion, but all religions that produce rotten fruit.

The beast that the harlot rides pictures the world’s political powers. (Revelation 17:10-13) False religion straddles the back of this political beast, attempting to influence its decisions and to control its direction.

Soon, though, an amazing event will take place. “The ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire.” (Revelation 17:16) In a sudden, shocking move, the world’s political powers will turn on false religion and completely destroy her! What will prompt this action? The Bible book of Revelation answers: “God put it into their hearts to carry out his thought.” (Revelation 17:17) Yes, God will call false religion to account for all the despicable acts she has committed in his name. In a stroke of perfect justice, he will use her political paramours as his instrument of execution.

What must you do if you do not want to share the fate of false religion? “Get out of her, my people,” urges God’s messenger. (Revelation 18:4) Indeed, now is the time to flee from false religion! But to where can you flee? Not into atheism, since its future is also bleak. (2 Thessalonians 1:6-9) The only haven is within true religion. How can you identify true religion?

How to Identify True Religion

What good fruit should true religion produce?—Matthew 7:17.

True Religion . . .

▪ PRACTICES LOVE: True worshippers are “no part of the world,” are not divided by race or culture, and display ‘love among themselves.’ (John 13:35; 17:16; Acts 10:34, 35) Rather than killing one another, they are willing to die for one another.—1 John 3:16.

▪ TRUSTS GOD’S WORD: Instead of teaching “tradition” and “commands of men as doctrines,” true religion bases its doctrine on God’s Word, the Bible. (Matthew 15:6-9) Why? Because “all Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight.”—2 Timothy 3:16.

▪ STRENGTHENS FAMILIES AND UPHOLDS HIGH MORAL STANDARDS: True religion trains husbands to ‘love their wives as their own bodies,’ helps wives to develop ‘deep respect for their husbands,’ and teaches children to ‘be obedient to their parents.’ (Ephesians 5:28, 33; 6:1) In addition, those entrusted with positions of authority must have exemplary morals.—1 Timothy 3:1-10.

Does any religion meet these standards? The book Holocaust Politics, published in 2001, says: “If more people practiced versions of what the Jehovah’s Witnesses preach and practice, the Holocaust could have been prevented and genocide would scourge the world no more.”
Q: According to YOUR religion, what is the definition of a false religion?

A: Any religion that denies Jesus is the Son of God who died and rose again for redeem us
False religion diverts your attention from GOD and persuades you to believe objects, humans, animals, signs or any other thing besides GOD to be god
Every body blindly think that his religion is true and others are false. You can find out the truth when you study a Holy Book deals with all religions and not altered by Human beings. ie Holy Qur-an
All religions are false. That includes christianity, which IS a religion despite the denials of some fundamentalists.
It still a religion whether it is true or false. ask mr. webster and mrs. oxford dictionary family.
i dont have a religion in fact im opposed to all forms of religion but there can be no FALSE religion its what people belive in... from my point of view thay are all wrong but thats just me
All religions, by definition, are false.
A false religion believes in a false God.
As an Atheist, I believe ALL ';religion'; false !
Unless it lines up 100% with the bible, then I would be very cautious. it is that simple.
As a Deist, I think all religions are false.
They're all false.
